Deviants
Hey everyone! In this podcast we talk about original versions of Disney classics, Youkai, Disneyland drama, and…not much else, lol. Well, it is an hour long, so we did manage to talk about something but in all honesty neither of us remember.
Enjoy, my fellow…er…deviants?

Nightscream said this on February 4th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
wtf podbean?
Anyway, here’s hoping this works, I said that we wished we had read I Love Geeks before we podcasted because there was tons of funny going on. We had quite a long laugh after.
Luna said this on February 4th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
And I just realized the problem. Podbean doesn’t like less than 3. I wrote I lessthan3 geeks because it’s the proper title of the book and that’s where it cut me off.

First then anything… why on earth would the Hunchback get shot? o__OU
More importatly… with what? They didn’t had guns back then!!
But ok, before more crazyness ensues and being the huge Mythology geek I am, Hercules did had anger managemente issues (Actually the ‘official explanation’ is that Hera scursed him with ‘maddening rages’) but the one Zoë was ralking about was Samson, the guy that gets blinded by fire and then knocks the main pillars withing the Temple of his enemies…
Then again as far as we know, Hercules is the base for Samson’s ‘tale’ in the bible, probably some Hebrew guy half-heard one of Hercules’ tales and tried to make it ‘his own’
Ok enough with the borring and unneeded explanation XD
Sorry girls… geekyness took over for a sec.
And yes, faery tales are sad, depressive, and utterly dark, then again, Faery comes from the ancient FATA (Meaning Fate or more exactly DOOM, so, no one said Faeries were nice, we just assumed it later)…
Which is sort of the point in Hellboy II and why I loved it XD
WTF!? o__OU A TEACHER ASKING IF YOU BELIEVE!!!? HE IS A TEACHER HE SHOULD KNOW THE BIG BANG THEORY IS THE MOST PLAUSIBLE WAY OF EXPLAINING THE UNIVERSE!!!
That or God pulling it out of his ass… but there is no scientific basis for God sooo… yeah.
Sorry if I offended anyone tho.
About Geeks… Why are we the Sci-fi and Fantasy Geeks the scary ones?
ON FIREFLY!
Zoë you still should watch it.
And Luna, now read throughtfully, I DEEPLY, DEEPLY HATE BUFFY, ANGEL AND WHATEVER OF THEIR PERMUTATIONS…
Yet I still feel in love with Firefly, actually, the best way to describe Firefly is the bunch of people the Enterprise crew would just drive by xDDD
Definetly recomend it, even if you don’t like it in the end, I guarrantee you, you will take at least one scene you love.
Two last things before I stop writting, cause it is just too long:
For an introduction, maybe Awesome-Sauce Addicts? xD
And the banner is pure awesomeness, Youkai ROCKS, seriously, looking good girls lol

Aww he said he wasn’t trying to offend anybody. Those are tough subjects, the bible and the big bang theory. We do try to avoid that, but…sometimes its unavoidable, so sorry Jessie.
And I’m gunna see if I can fix that heart thing, because that’s dumb, but i’ve come to discover that podbean is very dumb in general, and I can’t wait till we expand and change servers!

Love your podcast, was excited to get a link to it through Youkai Yume’s awesome fanart. :3 You girls are hysterical!
Since you’re still looking for something to say in the morning, why not go to quotationspage.com and look for a different quote to start out with every podcast? Like, if you’re angry go look up the “anger” subcategory and use and angry quote like “Anger makes dull men witty, but it keeps them poor.” (Elizabeth I) or if you just got paid and you’re feeling rich use the “wealthy” sub category for a quote. “Wisdom outweighs any wealth.” (Sophocles)
Then you two could talk about what you THINK about the quotes and that would take up a huge chunk of time. ;P
Also, have you seen Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged? Look it up if not. You won’t regret it.
Alyssa Carlin said this on February 5th, 2009 at 10:01 am
Awwww Sorry for offending ya Jessie…
Just my opinion but could had being said nicely, sorry again, just was trying to make it clear that while science is a matter of fact (Or in some very extreme case, plausibility of fact), religion is a matter of imagination, or well, faith tops, which to me, its an excersise of imagination anyways.
Still sorry if I offended anyone’s sensitivity, I apologise for my blunt nature and geekyness

Sigh…Flippin’ Disney Hercules. It’s a good movie I guess but lots of it is totally different from the real stuff. Yes, I know some of it had to be changed, but not everything. Like whole pegasus thing. Zues didn’t make it out of clouds for a little ‘Gift from Daddy’.
Also, can anyone explain to me what the Big Bang Theory is??
Aly said this on February 5th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Big Bang Theory…is two things. One, an amazing TV show that literally has nothing to do with the Big Bang Theory itself, and two, the theory that the universe began when it was in a really hot, dense state, and began to expand (maybe even explode, hence the ‘bang’), and is still expanding to this today…roughly.
Ohh that just reminds me of a song…
*sings*
Our whole universe
Was in a hot dense state
And nearly 14,000,000,000 years ago
Expansion started
WAIT!
The Earth began to cool
the Autotrophs began to drool
Neanderthals developed tools
We built a wall
WE BUILT THE PYRAMIDS!
Mad science, history
Unravelling the mystery
That all started with the Big Bang
HEY!!!
Zoë said this on February 5th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
The Big Bang Theory is a CBS sitcom about 4 young scientist living their nerdy lives…and some hot blonde moves across the hall and has to deal with said nerdiness. It’s actually funnier than it sounds…kind of. I’m still very lukewarm about the show and the only reasons I watch it are 1) Sheldon is pretty funny, 2) It’s on right before HIMYM, so I might as well, 3) We need things to talk about on our podcast so it’s as good as anything.
Unless of course you meant the “actual” Big Bang Theory, which is of course http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bang but I highly doubt that needs explaining.
Luna said this on February 5th, 2009 at 7:40 pm

Zoe, why don’t you just learn how to make triple berry pie? I’m sure there’s a recipe floating around somewhere.
And yes, Jodi Benson was Thumbelina. She was also the sarcastic secretary in “Enchanted” who was all like:
“She told me it’s (Andalasia) just beyond the meadows of joy and the valley of contentment. What is that all about?”

Dude. It was the weirdest thing ever. Last night I had a dream where there was a pie making contest at my school in the science building, so my team of two people who don’t even go to my school went in and there were some examples of pies. And they were crazy lookin’ like Ace of Cakes style pies. And so i picked up the only normal looking one and it was triple berry pie. I squealed and ate the whole thing.
hahaha…
Now I’m hungry

Love the idea of a meet up! Could we bring something other then pie and cookies? Like Chicken or something? We can make a picnic! Woot!
Maybe somewhere other then Disnyland though? That’s kinda out of my price range right now….Damn you economy!! (shakes fist)
Nightscream said this on February 9th, 2009 at 12:14 pm
BY THE WAY! All fellow Disneylanders, if you have a So-Cal select pass and go on a block out day you pay $30 dollars to get in. INSTEAD, tell the person you would like to UPGRADE your pass with that 30 dollars! You’d have to use it to get in anyways, might was well get something out of it.
Also, if you have a Pass to Disneyland still sign up for the free birthday thing. You get a pin saying why you are there and you can get free desserts, your group bumped to the front of the line, discounts and you also get a little over $60 Disneyland/Disneystores gift receipt given to you. (Because technically, they didn’t pay for you to get in.)
And if you don’t have a Disneyland pass, and it’s too much guess what; There is now a payment plan! For $20 a month you can have the $389 pass! Yay!
Alyssa said this on February 9th, 2009 at 2:28 pm

FYI: Not only were we denied Triple Berry pie the other day, but we were tempted with Five Berry Pie (or Quintuple Berry, as Zoë prefers) and then denied that. Sad times.
However, we were able to cut in line for Tower of Terror…and that’s always good.
Luna said this on February 10th, 2009 at 12:25 am

No problem Nightscream. Now if only we could help you get over your fear of the dark. (ha ha ha… that was funny right? right?)
So who saw Big Bang last night? Hilarious right? I am a huge Christine Baranski (Beverly, Leonards Mother) fan. I loved her in Chicago, Mama Mia!, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This role was really up her alley andshe did a wonderful job.
So Zoe, Luna, I’m catching up on your podcasts using my handy dandy new 4g ipod nano and I had another thought for an opening.
Cheesey/Bad/Horrible Romance Novel titles. Like, just list a couple that are REAL, BAD and just right down ridiculous. For example, my favorite is “The Australian Millionaires Inexperienced Love Slave”
Yes, that is really the title to a real romance novel. And since you work in a Boarders or Barns and Noble I figured you’d have ready access to all sorts of hilarity.
Alyssa said this on February 10th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
Oh we’ve seen our fair share of insane romance titles, but nothing beats the african american fiction titles. Some favorites are: Thong on Fire Drama in the Church and MORE Drama in the Church
Ahhhh…good times. And I was meh on Big Bang last night. I’m not really a fan of Leonard and Penny so it was all blah to me. The only really funny bit was Roj and Wolowitz being a homosexual couple. And I was also a little bit more than pissed that How I Met Your Mother wasn’t a new episode like it was supposed to be (and it was supposed to be a really good one, damnit). Curse you CBS! Curse youuuuuuu!
Luna said this on February 10th, 2009 at 11:26 pm
Yeah, I feel that some of the networks aren’t doing as well as they should. I think because of the “Depression” more people are not watching TV, but working while most shows are on and instead of DVRing or TiVoing, they cancelled their fancy 500+ channel deal with Time Warner so they can afford to pay their bills because you can’t get an apartment for less that 12,000 in Southern California.
I agree. PennyXLeonard is blah, but I fel like he was less Whiney and Complainy. XD Probably because he was sucking the neck of the woman he thought he would never be able to suck.
Argh, i need to make plans to see a recording…. and for Conan when he moves to Universal.
Alyssa said this on February 10th, 2009 at 11:42 pm
We were going to see Big Bang, but our timing sucks and the show keeps getting sold out. And seeing Conan would be AMAZING.
And actually, How I Met Your Mother was a rerun because a certain president had to make a speech on the only night I watch tv. He should have done it on Wednesday, since Pushing Daisies was cancelled, no one watches tv on Wednesday.

Summer said this on February 11th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
Hell yeah I read the Last Olympian bit in Demigod Files! I loved it! As much as I love percabeth (and I do love it) I love me some Percy/RED (uhh…perchel? Racey? What’s it called?). I can’t wait until it comes out in May…but then it will all be over and talk about sad times….
Luna said this on February 11th, 2009 at 5:48 pm

Dear Summer,
Kinda.
Alyssa said this on February 11th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Eh I never liked rachel. I always thought she was a annoying punk. I never liked the idea of those two as a couple. I always liked percabeth or even Percy and calypso. Though I prefer percabeth over everything else
Aly said this on February 11th, 2009 at 6:47 pm
Kinda what?
Summer said this on February 11th, 2009 at 6:47 pm
I don’t know, it’s very rare that I’m okay with either pairing as far as something I’m really passionate about, but I guess it’s a credit to Rick Riordan that I like and would be happy with Percy ending up with RED or Annabeth. It’s probably because the Annabeth thing has been played out really well. She’s still all into Luke, but kind of likes Percy and she’s all confused about it which is why nothing really at all has happened between the two and why it’s so easy for Percy to like RED. And I just plain fancy the character…with her blue plastic comb of doom. lessthan3
Luna said this on February 11th, 2009 at 8:57 pm
I’m with Luna on this one, though I do nudge more towards Percabeth (I’m going to call Rachel and Percy ‘Racey’ because it’s kinda skanky…and funny, right?).
And despite the confusion, there WAS a Percabeth moment in the last book, and OMFG I cannot WAIT for the next one. Me=EXCITED!
Zoë said this on February 12th, 2009 at 12:43 am
“So…am I an ‘anime/manga’ geek if I’m an Inuyasha whore?”
And I do mean this in the highest of respects of course!
Speaking of, I notice a large similarity to the fandom of Inuyasha Fans and Avatards. For example, many Inuyasha fans supported Kagome/Sesshoumaru as opposed to the canon of Kagome/Inuyasha. You then look over at the avatards and see a striking similarity between Zutarians and Kataangers.
When I was into Inuyasha, I supported Kagome/Inuyasha. It was obviously cannon, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t appreciate the good fanfiction and fanart by those who shipped Kagome/Sesshoumaru. (Incidentally, I LOVE Raindrops by Youkaiyume)
Then Avatar came out, and while I knew Kataang was the cannon I found myself more drawn to Zutara. (The Waterbending Scroll was what finally got me in) There was also more creativity from the Zutarians. Better fanart, better fanfiction (Not to say there wasn’t crap. I read a few REALLY bad zutara fanfics in my day.) But now that I see some Kataang fanart that is good, and interesting…
I am still Zutara. But I can sympathize with Kataangers. Thoughts?
Alyssa said this on February 12th, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Nah…Kataangers can suck it. They got their lousy 12 year old canon, they don’t need my sympathy. Nor do they want it. But yeah zutarians do it better. Art to videos and everything inbetween. Whoohoo!
And as far as InuYasha, I could never get into it. I think it was the voice actress for Kagome that killed me everytime. I’d be watching it at my friends house (because we would literally have to stop whatever we were doing to make it back to his house in time for inuyasha…seriously) and she would just scream “InuYasha” and a shiver would go up my spine every time. Like nails on a chalk board.
But…from what I remember of the series, wasn’t Sesshoumaru into some little girl or something?
Luna said this on February 12th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
NO! Seshoumaru wasn’t a Pedo!! Rin (the little girl) is his ward….he brought her back to life, and now he looks after her like a dad.
I’m a fangirl…can you tell? X3
Nightscream said this on February 12th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
I was trying to look up how InuYasha ended because I had seen a lot of the show thanks to one of my ex’s, and I was genuinely curious. Guess it all ended abruptly? Fans always get the short end of the stick *cough* Pushing Daisies *cough*.
And in the case of Kataangers, Luna and I used to go to this website (Kataangforever.net, wasnt it?) and just make fun of these kids. Someone had done a “100 Reasons Kataang will Happen” and…it was just horrible. It’s one of our older podcasts (I think we called ours ‘100 Reasons Zutara will Happen’ or something) but we’ve never had a lot of patience of the Kataang fandom simply because of their douchebaggery attitude. I know not all of them are like that, but still. Of course I can’t say much for the Zutarians who cried (literally) because their ship didn’t happen, or because they thought it was going to happen… -_-
Zoë said this on February 12th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
Awww, thanks Alyssa ^^
I think the only reason why Raindrops is so successful is that it is the only doujinshi that is ongoing and currently readily available to everyone on the internet.
And I’ve said this before as an Inuyasha fan, I love it to bits. I hate some of the english voice acting, I actually met the girl who did her english voice in person (along with Naraku, god Paul is sooo awesome…Escaflowne’s Folken, FTW) and she’s not a bad person. I do hate the fact that the series seems to go on forever in what are mostly filler arcs that aren’t really relevant to the story overall.
Which is why I like Avatar quite a bit. They had their fair share of filler but most of the time, they stayed focused on the story and how to move it along. It doesn’t go on forever like DBZ or Inuyasha. I think watching the finale with the creator’s commentary is a bit critical though. They went into an actual plausible explanation on why Aang was being such a pussy about killing Ozai. After hearing them talk about it, I could accept his whole “avatar state” thing a little better. Essentially, he had already let go of Katara in the Crystal Catacombs, that’s why his transformation was starting before his Chi was blocked by Azula.
The BUTTON is what unblocks the chakra and allows him to complete his transformation. This chakra blocking was also explored a couple of times before. Like when Sokka hit Combustion’s man head with his boomerang, blocking his Chakra flow through his third eye and then he completely blew up. It wasn’t that he never let go of Katara, he did.
HOWEVER, we were all still unsatisfied because in the series itself, it wasn’t better explained and consequently still made Aang come off as some asshole unwilling to make his sacrifice due to selfish reasons.
WOW, how’s THAT for a tangent? Anyway….
The whole Sesshomaru/Rin relationship differs from who you ask. People like me, can’t see them as anything other than Paternal. Most of the time he’s mildly neglectful of her even if he cares at the end. But putting them together to me is like putting together Kagome and Shipping. Semi-incestual.
Like Kataang.
Seriously, can’t you take care of someone without it having some romantic connotations to it? Tell the difference, people. This is why stuff like Yaoi (boy on boy love) springs up in places where they aren’t supposed to.

*Shipping?
I meant putting together Kagome and Shippo.
Youkai Yume said this on February 12th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
Kagome and Shippo? That’s new.
I actually don’t like shipping Inuyasha with anyone. As far as shipping goes, I really only go for Miroku/Sango.
Summer said this on February 12th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
But no, seriously, Kagome and Shippo?
Thats like, Kaugra and Kohaku.
Summer said this on February 12th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
o.o Oh no, what have i done?!
XD
I agree, I think alot of kataangers are about as mature as Aang… which is unfortunate because I have a few close friends who are kataang and MATURE about it. They didn’t throw it in my face after the series finale instead they congratulated me as if we had just finished a class fencing match. Someone even said “Hey, you guys had a good run. I was totally expecting them to kiss after they handled Azula.”
It’s a shame fandoms can’t get along. >.>
Part of the reason I stopped with Inuyasha was that it was going on and on and on… I realized it wouldn’t end. Heck, I still have no idea how the series ended! Avatar I felt ended to short. I just feel like one more person asking. “What happened to Ursa?”
At least alexds1 put it in perspective for us —> http://alexds1.deviantart.com/art/Loose-end-95589216

Are you guys going to see Avenue Q then? Me too!
Avenue Q is seriously awesome.
Irrel said this on February 14th, 2009 at 12:50 am
Yes we totally are! We’re going to the Orange County Performorning Arts Center (someone actually called it OCPAC, and I almost slapped them in the face. Was it you Luna?) I just need to get my tax return all situated before I can buy a ticket -_-
Zoë said this on February 14th, 2009 at 1:47 am
I’m going to see it in Sacramento. I haven’t bought my ticket yet either
Irrel said this on February 14th, 2009 at 12:00 pm
Yes I called it OCPAC, that’s what all the people in the know call it. I don’t have the time to say orange county per..blah blah…and I especially don’t have time to write it out!
Luna said this on February 14th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
I’d like to see Avenue Q, but I’ll probably have to settle for illegal youtube downloads for a while. XD
And yeah, it’s called OCPAC. Everyone I know calls it that. (Sorry Zoe, I think you’re fighting an unwinnable war here)
Alyssa said this on February 14th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
Not fair, Legally Blonde is showing on this OCPAC place on September. I wish I lived closer to LA!
Irrel said this on February 14th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
“unwinnable” lol. Is that a word?
I remember seeing Legally Blonde the Musical when it first aired on cable television. I thought I was dreaming…
Youkai Yume said this on February 14th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
…or was it a nightmare?
*dun dun dun*
And according to wikipedia “unwiniable” is a real word.
Alyssa said this on February 15th, 2009 at 2:18 am
I’m not trying to start a war over OCPAC, lol. I just think it sounds silly, and would rather call it Orange, or OC, heheh.
And Irrel, living far from the OC is no excuse to NOT see Legally Blonde! You should totally roadtrip it dude, it would be total awesome-sauce.
Zoë said this on February 15th, 2009 at 5:45 pm
I want to see Legally Blonde SO badly! But a 10 hour roadtrip each way to see it? Hmmmmmm… I’ll have to think about this!
Irrel said this on February 15th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
It stinks that you wont be able to see Legally Blonde Irrel! I find it odd that they have 2 LA (Pantages and OCPAC), but nothing else this side of Texas. Somewhat unfair, I’d say
Luna said this on February 15th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
That’s because we’re the only thing awesome this side of Texas!!!
Zoë said this on February 16th, 2009 at 4:53 am
I shall write them a strong worded letter about it. I want Legally Blonde on San Francisco/Sacramento (Reno is too much to ask), darn it!
Irrel said this on February 16th, 2009 at 11:43 am
Just thought I’d say that this guy I know calls me Caren and my best guy buddy Jack. And YOU GUYS RULE!!! This is the first time I’ve heard you… I couldn’t stop laughing.
Jorden said this on February 16th, 2009 at 8:29 pm
It took Luna and I over 60 seconds to understand and translate your first sentence JordEn.
Anyway, welcome yo.
Zoë said this on February 16th, 2009 at 11:37 pm
Well until those Shows come down to San Diego…I won’t be seeing them.
