Thus, the ratings are much better. Because of Avatar's success in this respect, it holds up quite well on its' own in terms of merchandising, etc. to keep on going. This doesn't excuse Nick from the poor mistreatment of Avatar, certainly. But again it's more of a marketing thing: Keep in mind that Nick usually likes to make big events out of their shows. When the seasons come out they like to show the episodes in rapid succession. It works for their ratings and for another, they figure kids will probably have an easier time knowing when to catch a block of episodes as opposed to new ones airing sporadically. Remember, not all the kids who watch the show avidly seek air dates and scheduling like we do. Of course, as a result we get some pretty shitty stuff going on.
